The Eclipse MicroPen™ uses tiny needles to deliver a series of precise, controlled epidermal and dermal micro-injuries. Known as Automated Micro-Needling or Collagen Induction Therapy, this process stimulates the body’s natural healing response to produce new collagen and elastin and soften wrinkles. This exciting innovation in aesthetic medicine is used to treat a variety of skin problems, including fine lines, acne scars, stretch marks, surgical scars, hyper-pigmentation, large pores, and mild to moderate skin laxity. The results are overall younger-looking skin, with fewer signs of aging.
When you have the Eclipse Micropen™ in San Antonio, it also creates superficial micro-channels which allow for topical gels, creams, and serums to be absorbed more quickly and effectively into the skin.
What areas of the body can I treat?
The Eclipse Micropen™ can be used on all parts of the body, including the face, neck, décolleté, arms, hands, legs, abdomen, and back.
What does it feel like?
It feels similar to sandpaper being moved across the skin. While some areas are more sensitive than others, the speed of the reciprocating needle and the applied hydrating gel makes the treatment comfortable.
How is the procedure performed?
A sterile needle-tip containing 12 tiny micro-needles is attached to our Eclipse Micropen™ in San Antonio. Dr. Banta will apply a thin layer of topical gel to your skin, and then she will select the appropriate treatment depth, based on your unique needs. She will then gently press the pen against your skin while it simultaneously glides in one direction.
How long does it take?
The procedure takes 15 to 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area treated.
What is the downtime?
Immediately after the treatment, you will notice a bright redness to the skin. This lasts 2 to 4 days on average, though some patients heal completely in as little as 24 hours. We also offer high quality skincare products to accelerate the healing process.
When will I see the results?
Following your treatment with the Eclipse MicroPen™ in San Antonio, you will notice an immediate glow. However, visible changes to the skin will develop over the course of several days and weeks. Results continue to improve up to 6 months after the treatment, as collagen production increases.
How many treatments will I need?
We recommend that most patients undergo a series of 2 to 3 treatments, spaced about 6 to 8 weeks apart. If you wish to improve the appearance of deep wrinkles, advanced photo-aging, stretch marks, or acne scars, we recommended 6 to 8 sessions at 6 week intervals.
